Awakening Your Worth: Working With Shadows & Triggers I find myself circling back to the past. The emotions that rise up are not because of fear itself—it’s the fear that triggers the emotions. Does that make sense? What we hide in our shadow often shows up through the people we meet or the situations we face. Surprising? Maybe. But shadows have a way of sneaking into the open. I was once with a friend who told me she disliked a certain person but didn’t know why. I knew why—but it wasn’t for me to tell her. She wasn’t ready to face it yet. Why did I know? Because I had seen the same thing in myself. In the past, whenever someone or something triggered me, I fell straight into the trap of ego protection. My victimized inner child would come out—I’d get angry, frustrated, jealous, and miss the chance to learn.
