Embrace the Happiness You Create for Yourself

Embrace the Happiness You Create for Yourself

Have you ever wondered why I use the phrase:

“Embrace the happiness that is created by yourself”?

Because when you come into this room, you have already made a decision.

For one hour, you are going to be selfish.

You are going to be yourself.

And you are going to thank yourself for being here.

For this one hour, you don't have to be somebody's mother, somebody's partner, somebody's friend, somebody's colleague, or somebody who is expected to take care of everyone else.

For one hour, you get to come back to yourself.

You decide which emotions you want to keep.

You decide which emotions you are ready to let go of.

And after that one hour, I believe you will feel different.

Notice that I didn't say:

“You will feel happy.”

I said:

You will feel different.

There is no attachment to what that feeling should be.

Maybe you feel more energetic.

Maybe you feel lighter.

Maybe you feel peaceful.

Maybe you feel emotional.

Maybe you feel completely drained because you have finally allowed yourself to purge thoughts that have been sitting inside you for too long.

All of that is okay.

Yesterday, I spoke about thoughts constipation.

Today, perhaps you are purging those thoughts.

And I'm doing exactly the same thing.

I'm purging my thoughts too.

I'm pushing out the things that no longer serve me.

It could be something about a relationship.

It could be something someone said.

It could be something I did.

It could be an expectation I have been carrying.

I don't necessarily need to throw everything away immediately.

Sometimes I simply look at it.

I evaluate it.

I ask myself what it means to me now.

And then I decide how I want to live my life.

Because how long do we really have on this planet?

I don't know.

None of us really knows.

So I want my journey to be lived fully.

My journey has been flowery enough.

It has been favourable enough.

It has also had its ups and downs.

There has been sadness.

There has been happiness.

There has been confusion.

There has been clarity.

There have been moments when I thought I knew exactly what I was doing.

And there have been moments when I had absolutely no idea.

But you know what?

I enjoy the journey the way I should.

I accept.

I learn.

I move on.

Then someone may ask:

“But Peggy, don't you feel hurt?”

Of course I do.

I feel hurt.

I'm human.

Being aware doesn't mean you stop feeling.

Being a coach doesn't mean you don't get disappointed.

Knowing your worth doesn't mean nobody can hurt you.

The difference is what you choose to do with the hurt.

What's the point of staying in that tight little corner of hurt?

You can sit there.

You can replay it.

You can analyse it a hundred times.

You can ask why.

You can ask what you did wrong.

You can ask why someone treated you that way.

But eventually, there comes a moment when you have to ask yourself:

“What am I going to do with this?”

Take the hurt.

Take the lesson.

Take the wisdom.

And strengthen yourself with it.

Don't waste the pain.

Increase the power of your wisdom.

That's what I mean when I say embrace the happiness you create for yourself.

It isn't pretending that everything is wonderful.

It isn't forcing yourself to smile.

It isn't denying sadness.

It isn't telling yourself that you must be positive all the time.

It is giving yourself permission to experience whatever is actually there—and then deciding what you want to carry forward.

For one hour, come into the room.

Be selfish.

Be yourself.

Thank yourself for showing up.

Purge what needs to be purged.

Keep what still serves you.

And when the hour is over, don't ask:

“Am I happy?”

Ask:

“Do I feel different?”

Maybe that difference is exactly what you needed.

And yes...

I promised myself I would keep quiet.

But Peggy being Peggy...

When something comes to me, I like to share it.

Because sometimes, what comes through me may be exactly what someone else needs to hear.

So here I am.

Still talking.

Still learning.

Still feeling.

Still purging.

Still becoming wiser.

And still embracing the happiness that I create for myself.
